Hello, I’m Mr. Van Wert, the Spanish teacher at Woodrow Wilson Academy. Before working at WWA, I taught Spanish for five years at Broomfield Academy. I also worked as a paraprofessional in native Spanish-speaking classes in Denver Public Schools. I grew up in Denver and went to Fort Lewis College in Durango, where I majored in Spanish. My experiences abroad include: Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Chile (where I taught English for two years). I have an incredible wife and two wonderful boys. In our free time, we enjoy snowboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and camping. I’m excited to be a part of the Woodrow Wilson Academy community and look forward to a positive school year!
